BEATING FATIGUE IN ARTHRITIS
The demands of life can be very tiring. To make things worse, the body’s battle against chronic conditions like arthritis can be exhausting. Here are some ideas to help you keep up with your schedule.
- Eat your carbs! A healthy diet is a basic fundamental requirement for anyone who is active. Healthy carbs in whole grains, breads, and pastas will provide a constant energy source you need for the demands of the day.
- Fruits and veggies - Healthy foods promote healing, fight inflammation, and improve recovery to keep your body invigorated and refreshed from day to day.
- Rest - A good night of sleep will give your body the time it needs to recharge. This is essential in the midst of a busy week, so aim for consistent sleep daily rather than waiting for thewekends to “catch up”. Meanwhile, take breaks during busy days to allow your body time to regroup between tasks.
- Maybe it’s medical - check in with your doctor to find out if you may be at risk for medical issues that may be causing or contributing to your fatigue. You may need to get better control of other medical issues like diabetes or thyroid disorders, or you may have low blood counts. A new medication may be causing fatigue, or you may even have a new undiagnosed medical problem.
- Could it be depression? Mention to your doctor if you are having problems with your mood. Sadness, anxiety, loss of interest in activities, and other changes that make your day difficult may manifest as fatigue.
