WILL MY RA SYMPTOMS GET BETTER

Typically, at the time that patients get diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), they are having symptoms of pain, swelling, and stiffness in their joints that can be severe and overwhelming.  Joint function will be limited and daily activities will be difficult with these symptoms.  People naturally wonder if they will ever get better.

Fortunately, most people with RA will improve substantially with current treatment regimens.  In fact, in as little as a few months, you may achieve RA remission, where the disease becomes inactive.  When this occurs, your joints will feel close to normal and your activities will be improved.  Most importantly, in remission, your joints will no longer be at risk for RA-related joint destruction.

Although RA affects each individual differently, you should be hopeful that you will feel better soon.  Take your medications as prescribed, and follow up with your doctor regularly to adjust your treatments as needed.
